Costumes

It is customary for Festival goers to dress in
period and western clothing the entire week of Harvest Festival.
A costume contest is held on the 24th and.....

dressing in costume keeps you out of jail!
(see info below *)
Below are some photos of last years winners

The South County Historical Society is sponsoring the 2005 Harvest Festival Costume Contest with two new categories designed to delight this year’s participants. Added to last year’s categories of Most Authentic Costume/Western, Most Likely to be Seen in the Village/Any Era, Most Outstanding Children’s Costume/Any Era and Most Creative, a special new category for Hats has been added.  Also new is the Saloon and Dance Hall category added for those of you who still have such outfits hanging at the back of your closet. This category will cover everything from the glamorous “little black dress” of 2004 to the bawdy “Saloon Girl” look of yesterday!

To enter, come to Heritage Square near the Santa Manuela School on Saturday, September 24 between 10 AM and 3 PM. The Costume Contest booth will have registration forms and a photographer will be waiting to take your photo. Ribbons will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each of the five categories.

Tap into your roots by producing creative costumes and reap the reward of happy memories!
