The Demos
entdemos.jpg (111060 bytes)

Take some classic Country, add a dash of retro R & B, blend in a pinch of tremolo-tinged Surf. Then ask four seasoned musicians to make it sound good---Voila! You’re talkin’ "The Demo’s!" Rarely does such a diverse range of music happen in one place at one time, but this new group makes it all feel smooth and sound natural.

With recording and performance credits ranging from Neil Diamond to Dick Dale, Linda Ronstadt to Janie Frickie, The Cache Valley Drifters to Chuck Berry, "The Demos" have the collective experience and chops to pull it off with ease!

"The Demos took us from Nashville to Motown to Memphis all in one night.
I believe it when they say they've got 120 years combined musical experience. Don't miss these guys!"

THE VIPER SIX

entvipers.jpg (119451 bytes)

"Miz Buffy" Doran - Vocals

Ted "Catalina Eddy" Waterhouse - Guitar & Vocals
Michael "Doghouse" Dias - Acoustic Bass & Vocals
Doctor Bob Brenman - Tenor & Soprano Saxophones & Clarinet
Mr. Bob Osborn - Tenor, Alto & Soprano Saxophones
"Atomic" Jim Stromburg - Drums

The Viper Six, an act that's been hot on Californiaıs Central Coast music scene since the turn of the century. Through 2008, their regular monthly performances at San Luis Obispo's famed Mother's Tavern have seen packed houses dancing and singing along to the group's wild nd infectious "Swing -Jass" sound and their performance at the Live Oak Music Festival in the Santa Ynez Valley was a huge success. In addition, they have played the "Jubilee by the Sea" Pismo Jazz Fest the last four years in a row as well as various San Luis County winery events and dances and in March 2009 performed eight shows to very good response at the prestigious Eureka Jazz Festival. They have recently been a big hit at the Third Friday Swing Dance series at Santa Barbara's Carillo Ballroom and have performed four times to great acclaim at San Luis Obispo's Concerts in the Plaza series - most recently in 2006 and 2007. They've also recently returned to their old stomping grounds at the world famous Madonna Inn.

Featuring a delicious potpurri of familiar and obscure jazz and swing classics from the 1930's and 40's - mixed with their own sharp, witty originals, The Viper Six appeals to music lovers and Swing Dancing enthusiasts of all ages, Teens to Octagenatians! From Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and Billie Holliday to Slim & Slam, Cab Calloway and Louis Jordan, The Viper Six mixes up a cocktail that's one part Class, one part Madness and One Hundred Percent Great Music!

The incomperable Miz Buffy struts her stuff in sharp attire handling the Lioness' share of the Vocals and charming the crowd with her black velvet voice and slinky demeanor while the always dapper Catalina Eddy backs her with solid rhythm chops and flashing leads on the Arch-Top Guitar, adding a vocal or two of his own. The great duo of Mr. Bob and Dr. Bob, are center stage, wailing on Saxes and Clarinet, knockin' em dead with the hottest riffs and solos around, while Doghouse lays down those smooth walkin' lines on his String Bass and cooking up some crazy scat and lead vocals as Jumpin' Jim on Drums kicks out that solid swing beat that keeps the dancers hoppin'. It all adds up to a sound and a show that you won't forget!

Cookinı with the BlueSouls

Sometimes just a few ingredients seasoned just right, provide the best recipes. And that's what the BlueSouls bring to the table.  Start with award winning songwriter and guitarist extraordinaire, Ted Waterhouse, laying down the foundation of the group, displaying rhythmic mastery, tasty licks and soulful slide guitar work.

Then, spice it up with Debra Windsong, whose sultry and heartfelt vocals mix with amazing talents on the harmonica that sometimes soothe the soul with graceful melody or raise it up with blistering solos.

Now into the kitchen strides bass player, Fred Murray. He's hot, but he's cool. Fred likes to stir it up from the bottom to bring out the flavor. His percolating riffs add boldness and substance to the mix.

Add to that the driving percussive virtuosity of Jerry Pyle on cajon, and you have a recipe for great music a la BlueSouls.

The BlueSouls have been serving up a savory blend of musical styles in the central coast wineries and clubs for almost a decade. They can simmer with sweet soul, or turn up the heat a little for some down home Americana and original songs. Or, they can bring it to a full boil, delivering some smokin' hot blues featuring incredible bottleneck guitar, searing harmonica and sizzling rhythms.

As an amplified acoustic band, the BlueSouls are able to cater to both large and small events.

So please, sit back and enjoy!

Mmmmm. Sounds good!

Nipomo_Creek_118_sm.jpg (311654 bytes)

Caption: Pacific Coast Railway number 101 crosses Nipomo Creek on this model of bridge 70, located a few miles north of the Santa Maria River.  This model was built for the San Luis Obispo Model Railroad Association (SLOMRA.org).  The Pacific Coast Rwy served the central coast from 1875 until 1942. Text: The Pacific Coast Railway was a narrow gauge (36 inches between the rails) line that ran from Harford's Pier at Port San Luis to San Luis Obispo, then south through Arroyo Grande, Nipomo, Santa Maria, Orcutt, Los Alamos and Los Olivos.  Before there were paved roads the railroad hauled the lumber used to build SLO county, ag products, gravel, oil and passengers.   The Pacific Coast Rwy served the central coast from 1875 until 1942.  Engine 101 has a 2-6-0 wheel arrangement and was built in December 1893 by Baldwin.  The engine was scrapped in 1924.   This is a model of the Pacific Coast Railway bridge number 70 that crosses Nipomo Creek at milepost 38.5.  The tracks crossed this bridge just north of where Highway 101 crosses Nipomo Creek today.  The high tension power line is still there.  The tracks also cross Thompson Road just north of the bridge.  Thompson Road is the original El Camino Real used by the Spanish missionaries and the road Lt. Col. John C. Fremont's troops took on his way to take California from Mexico. This O-Scale (1:48) module was built as part of a larger layout for the San Luis Obispo Model Railroad Association (SLOMRA.org).  The engine is a modified Bachmann On30 Mogul.  The Hereford cows are a common range breed of the period.  The model was researched and built by Dennis Pearson of Nipomo, California.
